Gritty tallow?
This can occur if the balm experiences temperature swings and the oils separate—it’s perfectly safe to use! Simply melt the balm on low heat in a double boiler or microwave, allow it to cool slightly, then whip again or use it unwhipped. You can also warm a small amount between your fingers before applying.
